In December I took a trip up to Beverly to spend an afternoon with Dr. Daniel McCullough. McCullough was part of an interesting Wall Street Journal story about the future of health care.

I generally don’t like to leave the house. This is especially true on weekends. If I can go the full 48 hours, and spend most of it in my bathrobe or in the yard, I would consider that a success. However, in the wedding off-season getting a full weekend of relaxing into one day isn’t necessary. And now that my schedule isn’t so chaotic I’ve slowed down to notice all the projects that are needed at home. Completing those projects means leaving the house. So, Brooke is very confused with my new excitement to journey out and go places I usually request to stay in the car for.

Brooke has always needed to leave the house once a day. She doesn’t even know what to do with me now.

Below is a profoundly incomplete collection of favorite wedding images from 2011. There are hundreds more photos I love that aren’t here, but I made some serious sacrifices and still managed to include 74 images in this post. I tried to cut out more. Honest. I just couldn’t.

Thank you to all the wonderful couples and families I met in 2011. The year was a blast. Here’s hoping 2012 is half as fun.

Pickles and Pirate’s Booty

Our nephew Jacobi is getting older. We celebrated his 3rd birthday this past weekend with pickles, Pirate’s Booty and the rest of his favorite snacks. He’s starting to look like a little man. Especially when he’s bellied up to the bar with his (milk) drinking buddy, Lulu.

Brooke and I have good taste. Or so we like to think so. However, if we have to do more than simply recognize great design, we’re all but useless. We’ve purchased furniture and other design elements for our spaces, but it’s always haphazard, influenced by a discount, and doesn’t quite work in the way we use it.

We just purchased a house that needs some serious attention, so while the first floor is upended in the next year or two, we thought we would make our bedroom a sanctuary from plaster dust and house innards. Painfully familiar with our past decorating shortcomings, we brought in Tess Jenkins to come up with a cohesive design concept and specific plans for execution. I knew we had good taste, but following a morning with Tess I learned how smart we are. Geniuses, really. Tess not only put together a thoughtful design to enhance how we wanted to use the space, but she also saved us from the expensive mistakes we’re known for making.

I’ll be sure to share a picture when it all comes together. We’re ready to pass on the college furniture and start living like adults. Or at least look like it.

Kevin and Ben

I can’t think of a better way to end the wedding season than helping Kevin and Ben to document their beautiful wedding day. They treated their guests to a very Boston wedding with their ceremony and reception at the InterContinental Hotel along the waterfront. Gabrielle Stone and her team did a great job of making sure everything ran smoothly. I rarely feel like I’m working at a wedding. But, a couple of times throughout the night I wished I wasn’t photographing this one. I wanted to be a guest : ) Congratulations, Kevin and Ben!

Isa and Damiano

I met up with Emanuele, Robyn, Isabella and Damiano as they got their day started. It was such a pleasure and honor to help preserve these small moments. Breakfast on a random day in December is the least documented life event but one that can make you the most nostalgic years later. Thanks for making me part of the family for a morning, guys!

Kathryn and Pete

I had a great time getting to know Kathryn and Pete during the engagement session and was really looking forward to their wedding. They were married at the Old South Church and then walked across the street for a beautiful reception at the Boston Public Library. Pete and Kathryn just moved to Boston, and I felt lucky to be the one documenting their wedding/epic welcome party : ) Congratulations, Kathryn and Pete!
