Below is a profoundly incomplete collection of favorite wedding images from 2011. There are hundreds more photos I love that aren’t here, but I made some serious sacrifices and still managed to include 74 images in this post. I tried to cut out more. Honest. I just couldn’t.

Thank you to all the wonderful couples and families I met in 2011. The year was a blast. Here’s hoping 2012 is half as fun.

Kevin and Ben

I can’t think of a better way to end the wedding season than helping Kevin and Ben to document their beautiful wedding day. They treated their guests to a very Boston wedding with their ceremony and reception at the InterContinental Hotel along the waterfront. Gabrielle Stone and her team did a great job of making sure everything ran smoothly. I rarely feel like I’m working at a wedding. But, a couple of times throughout the night I wished I wasn’t photographing this one. I wanted to be a guest : ) Congratulations, Kevin and Ben!

Kathryn and Pete

I had a great time getting to know Kathryn and Pete during the engagement session and was really looking forward to their wedding. They were married at the Old South Church and then walked across the street for a beautiful reception at the Boston Public Library. Pete and Kathryn just moved to Boston, and I felt lucky to be the one documenting their wedding/epic welcome party : ) Congratulations, Kathryn and Pete!

Aliza and Chaim

Aliza and Chaim’s wedding at the Peabody Essex Museum was full of Jewish traditions and beautiful pageantry. I had so much fun photographing this event and did my best to keep up. Every wedding takes on a different tone, and there’s no other way to describe this one than celebratory. There were multiple horn-lead processions, and the hora lasted nearly 30 min. I got swept up in the wedding and loved every minute of it. Aliza and Chaim were at Jamie and Jeremy’s wedding two years ago, and I feel lucky they invited me to be a part of theirs. Congratulations, Aliza and Chaim!

Erika and Eddie

I met Erika almost five years ago at her brother’s wedding. The fact that she even remembered me, let alone wanted me to be a part of her and Eddie’s wedding meant a lot to me. Erika and Eddie live in Brighton a few streets over from where Brooke and I lived until just a few months ago. I started the day spending time with Eddie at the house he grew up in. Erika was getting ready across the street in the house they they both live in now. They had a beautiful family-only ceremony at St. Columbkille Parish before meeting up with the rest of their guests for a fun reception along the Charles River at the Harry Parker Boathouse. Thanks so much for including me, Erika and Eddie! Congratulations!

Tess and Jared

You’ve heard me talk about being nervous shooting other photographers weddings, but I was particularly anxious about Tess and Jared’s. I looked up to Jared when I quit my job and came to Boston to freelance. I am still constantly in awe of his work. If working with one highly visually literate person wasn’t enough, Tess is also an artist and talented designer. Luckily, Tess and Jared, and all their friends and family, were so warm and welcoming that I forgot to second guess myself. The ceremony and reception were at the Riverside Farm in Vermont. The rain was courteous enough to fall only when it didn’t matter. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a beautiful fall day. Congratulations, Tess and Jared!

Christina and Anthony

I’ve had so much fun getting to know Christina and Anthony this past year. They both are really fun, and their wedding was no different. St. Gregory in Dorchester was the site of the ceremony. Afterwards, we walked down the street for some ice cream (of course) before heading down to the waterfront for pictures and then the Omni Parker Hotel for a beautiful reception. I was lucky to be a part of this one. Congratulations, Christina and Anthony!

Daniela and Benn

I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for awhile. Daniela and Benn got married in Florence, MA at the Pines Theater in Look Park before walking to the reception in the Garden House. October was the perfect time to be there, and the weather didn’t disappoint. Daniela and Benn possess such a strong outward expression of their love, and it was an absolute honor to be there to document it. Congratulations, Daniela and Benn!

Dana and Justin

I had never been to Nantucket before Dana and Justin’s wedding. Now I know what the big deal is. Dana and Justin had a beautiful ceremony at St. Mary’s before heading to the other side of the island for the reception at the Sankaty Head Golf Club. Dana and Justin used to live and work on Nantucket (including at the golf club), and they did a great job of sharing this special place with all their guests. They put together a guide of all their favorite places that I’ll be holding onto for my next visit. Congratulations, Dana and Justin!

Delia and Jeff

In 1996 Delia was elected to the homecoming court and took me with her. She made her own dress. We skipped the dance and a bunch of us piled into my 1991 Hyundai Excel 4-speed hatchback to go see Trainspotting. Fifteen years later Delia invited me to her wedding. She made her own dress again. In fact, she and her friends and family made everything (the bridesmaid dresses, the flowers, the decorations, the signs, the food, the cake, the favors, the invitations . . . everything). And this time Jeff was there. Jeff is a smart, hilarious, thoughtful guy who I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know over the past couple of years. They compliment each other wonderfully, and I love being around them. I also learned I love being around their friends. I hope these pictures come anywhere near the feeling of their classy picnic-themed wedding at an old mill in Salt Point, NY. Congratulations, Delia and Jeff!
