Julia and Mike

When I found out Julia and Mike were fellow journalism school graduates I had a good feeling we would be on the same page. But, what I didn’t count on was how funny and charming they, and all their family and friends, would be. It’s easy to forget what articulate means until you spend a day around people who are experts in the craft of storytelling.

And it was great to be back at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center. I see a lot of hotels and other wedding venues in my line of work, but I rarely see one run so well. It’s always a pleasure to spend time there, on or off the clock. However, take that with a grain of salt. I’m biased.

Leaf

I’ve never gone more than two weeks without blogging for the past three years, and this is the first guest entry. Brooke took this picture of a leaf on our windshield as we drove through Maine. My wife is going to put me out of business with her iPhone camera. She’s taking the food right out of my mouth.

Sandra and Nick

I was crossing the street downtown with Emily and Matt, when I heard someone shout from a car sitting in traffic, “Are you Channing Johnson?” It was Sandra. We had exchanged a few e-mails and Sandra had a feeling the guy walking backwards looking through a camera was probably me. Maybe it’s because we’re from neighboring Southern states. She could just tell. Nick and Sandra’s mom were in the car at the time, and it was good to meet them at the traffic light. I immediately had a feeling their Harry Parker Boathouse wedding would be a fun one to be a part of. And what do you know? I guessed right.

Channing - His mom was showing the costume to his uncle and auntie. He was initially reluctant, but then he didn’t seem to really notice.October 23, 2009 – 8:44 am

Megan - Has Halloween come early for the little guy? I remember never wanting to take my robot costume off (which was essentially a cardboard box with some silver spray paint)…October 23, 2009 – 1:46 am

Emily and Ben

Emily and Ben had a beautiful Fall day for their Boston Harbor Hotel wedding. They lived in several different states during their courtship (rarely in the same one) and collected friends along the way that came from all over the country to celebrate with them. Emily’s parents actually live in the Charlotte-area where my parents live. It was a beautiful day, and I was glad to be a part of it.
