Port of Memory

The National contacted me several days ago to spend some time with Kamal Aljafari in Cambridge. The Dubai publication did a story on the Middle East International Film Festival that is going on right now and talked about Kamal’s new film Port of Memory. Kamal, who is a Radcliffe Institute fellow, will be showing some of his work later this year at Harvard.

Erin and Philippe

My primary role at Erin and Phlippe’s wedding was guest. Although, I also had the privilege of spending time with them moments before they got married.20090926_erinphilippe_110120090926_erinphilippe_046120090926_erinphilippe_1506

Addie and Dave

Addie and Dave know how to have a good time. Music is an important part of their lives, and their reception playlist is one of the best I’ve ever heard. The people on the dance floor thought so, too. It was another one of those receptions where I wished I was a guest. Thanks for making me part of such a beautiful day, Addie and Dave!

UPDATE: Jeff Brouillet just sent me a link to highlights from Addie and Dave’s wedding video. It’s absolutely beautiful. It was a pleasure working with Jeff, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

War Photographer

An assignment I shot in May is in Boy’s Life Magazine this month. In situations like the one below, the best vantage point is often a dangerous one. But, I was hoping if I knelt down low and in front of the soldiers (and their muskets loaded with marshmallows and cornstarch) I would avoid getting shot. I didn’t take into account that I would be an irresistible target for a ten-year-old with a marshmallow blown gun. My entire right side was covered with cornstarch. My equipment, too. I had to ask a man in the parking lot to brush off my back.

Emily and Matt

Getting to know Emily and Matt has been such a pleasure. Spending an evening with them roaming the city made me look forward to their wedding even more. They picked a beautiful late-summer day to celebrate with their friends and family in a Cape Cod backyard. Delicious food, beautiful details and wonderful music surrounded the people closest to them to make for a really special night.

Colonel Sanders

Erin has always had a fascination with Kentucky Fried Chicken but never actually had the pleasure of enjoying a bucket. So, two weeks before their wedding, Brooke and I invited Erin and Philippe to a picnic on the Greenway to enjoy a little quiet amidst the wedding planning storm. Can’t beat a beautiful evening and some fried bird. Keepin’ it classy with the Johnsons.

Addie and Dave

Addie and Dave’s wedding is soon, but it’s never too late for engagement pictures. We walked quickly through the Public Garden and then headed up Newbury Street. Addie and Dave met while working at a Newbury Comics, so we went into the Newbury Street location to reminisce. They couldn’t help but straighten records and CDs as they walked by. Their wedding is going to be a fun one. I have a good feeling about that.

Jen and Jesse

Would you believe I shot two weddings in Wisconsin this summer? I met Jen and Jesse at Elizabeth and Kavi’s wedding, and they invited me to come back out to document their celebration as well. The ceremony took place in a stream on old family land, and the reception was at a historic town hall surrounded by beautiful cornfields. Jen and Jesse share a unique passion for each other and for life in general. I’m two-for-two with awesome couples tying the knot in Wisconsin. Can’t wait for my next Wausau wedding!
