Candice and Jeff

I’ve been looking forward to Candice and Jeff’s wedding since their engagement shoot in May. Both are a lot of fun and their wedding was no different. On Saturday they got ready at the Kendall Hotel before marrying and celebrating at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center. I don’t need to be reminded why I love my job, but it never hurts. Thanks, guys. Have a wonderful time in Hawaii.

Jorge - These images captured the story, the flavor, and the character of the people beautifully. Well done, very well done.September 4, 2009 – 1:49 am

Eugene - This is a great set of images! My favourite image, if I had to pick one, would be the one sixth from the bottom (the purple wall, looking through the door with girls dancing). It’s really well framed and tells a cool story. Great work!August 5, 2009 – 6:46 pm

Channing Goes to Camp

Last week I had the pleasure of spending a day at Crossroads for Kids’ Camp Wing. I got to jump rope and eat english muffin pizzas, but the best part was interacting with the children. The camp functions to create “a safe and caring community where young people from at-risk environments discover a sense of belonging and a passion for life.” Seeing the mission statement in action was inspiring. I can’t say enough good things about the people there.  And if you’re looking for a wedding venue, why not do it at camp? Tater-tots make great hors d’oeuvres.

Meg and Josh

Meg and Josh were married at the Old South Meeting House and then celebrated with friends and family at the Downtown Harvard Club. It was the first time I’ve seen a best-man perform an interpretative dance (there were no words to describe the love for his brother, but Enya helped). And it was the first time I’ve seen the father of a bride bring his dancing shoes. Literally.

This wonderful day was filled with some wonderful people.

Katie - FANTASTIC photos. Where were you when I was getting married. I was part of this wedding, but check back often to get jealous again. I’ll just have to host another party so you can capture it!September 3, 2009 – 12:14 am

Erin - Hi Channing! Erin, here, formerly Tuttle, now Kottke. Just wanted to say that your photos are beautiful, and that I’m glad you’re doing well. If you’re ever in Minneapolis, I would LOVE to commission you to take some photos of my son, Linus. Our point-and-click just doesn’t cut it.July 28, 2009 – 5:51 pm

Emily and Ben

I’m shooting Emily and Ben’s wedding in October. This past weekend they flew in from St. Louis and showed me their old stomping grounds. They met as students at Boston College, so we wandered around campus and Cleveland Circle. I saw their favorite pizza hangout, where they had their first kiss, and where Ben pretended to like Thai food to impress Emily on their first date. Thanks for waking up early, Emily and Ben. I had a great time and can’t wait for October.

Emily and Ben » Channing Johnson Photography - […] Emily and Ben had a beautiful Fall day for their Boston Harbor Hotel wedding. They lived in several different states during their courtship (rarely in the same one) and collected friends along the way that came from all over the country to celebrate with them. Emily’s parents actually live in the Charlotte-area where my parents live. It was a beautiful day, and I was glad to be a part of it. […]October 20, 2009 – 11:51 am

Renee and Michael

Renee and Mike were married at the beautiful Elks at Bass Rocks. People from all over the country descended on Gloucester for their beautiful celebration on the water. Renee and Mike have some wonderful friends and family that made my short time with them a lot of fun. Congratulations and thanks for including me!

The Fourth

Brooke and I walked down the sidewalk in front of our house, got on the Green Line to catch a plane, and ended up on Emerald Isle, NC yesterday. We’re looking forward to a week of relaxation with friends and family. This is an annual tradition in its 27th year. God Bless America.

Jen and Amin

Jen and Amin met in a bookstore. This is appropriate for a couple who has bookshelves lining the living room, bedrooms, dining room and hallway of their house. They got ready together at home with their families before heading to the ceremony where the written word played another important part. Friends and family read several thoughtful and moving pieces. The readings were very specific to Jen and Amin while being inspirational to all of us.

The reception at the Pierce House was a lot of fun. My friends at Petalena created beautiful arrangements that were placed around the house. And Mango Blue is responsible for the dancing pictures. Beautiful day all around.
