Kate and Patrick

Kate and Patrick got married at St. Mary of the Assumption and Le Méridien. I discovered they both are hilarious, and I caught myself laughing out-loud multiple times throughout the day. Doing my job became particularly difficult when a pumpkin started flying back and forth over the dance floor. I couldn’t stop laughing, and I was trying to make sure I went home without any pumpkin-related injuries. That was a fun one. Nikki - Those pumpkin photos definitely made me smile as well–congrats!!!December 4, 2014 – 8:50 pm

Laura and Dustin

If Laura and Dustin lived in Boston we probably would have rescheduled their engagement session. The snow, rain and strong winds seemed inconvenient, but we were going to make it work. And I’m glad we did. The wintery mix dried up, the sun came out, and the wind, well, was still really strong. But we had a great time exploring the city and were rewarded with some beautiful light as the sun went down. It was great to finally meet Laura and Dustin (and Russell!), and I can’t wait for their wedding next year.

Nikki - What a fun looking couple, I can’t even pick a favorite photo of the bunch!November 13, 2014 – 9:03 pm

Liz and Eric

You know how much I love backyard weddings. Liz and Eric’s ceremony at her parents’ home had that same warmth and familiarity only found in a place with personal history. And with the leaves starting to change color it was the best time of year to celebrate at home. Congratulations, Liz and Eric!

Nikki - These pictures are awesome–what a fun looking fall wedding!October 29, 2014 – 6:04 pm

Deborah Matoba - Wonderful!October 28, 2014 – 4:49 pm

I’ve always had a personal relationship with photography. Some periods of the past 15 years that relationship has been stronger than others. Maybe it’s because my mental space is clogged with parenting logistics, but since Ellis has arrived I’ve taken fewer pictures at home. As sand slips through my fingers with unprecedented clarity, I do less to record it.

I think the “enjoy every minute” cliché is more than a little misguided. Some parenting experiences were meant to be endured, not enjoyed. But I do love being Ellis’ dad, and I want to start doing a better job of capturing these small moments as much, if not more, than the milestones. I think I can both be present and document this special time better for all the future selves in this family. 20141013-Ellis-Allen-0067

mike a - Channing, i have 2 kids, one 16 and the other is a freshman in college. I was going through my collection of family photos the other day and realized I haven’t taken nearly enough. My father, passed away a few days ago and I only had a handful of him. Make the time, believe me I understand how hard time is to find, but you will be glad when you see those images.November 19, 2014 – 8:29 am

Kelly and Mike

I wasn’t the one who pulled the fire alarm at Kelly and Mike’s wedding, but photographically it sure was a treat to document firefighters crashing the party. Most of the day and evening was delightfully low-key, although after the Boston Fire Department confirmed we were all safe the dance floor opened up, and the energy elevated a notch. My personal favorite was the impromptu high-kick contest. I can’t believe no one hurt themselves. It was wonderful.

Kelly and Joe

Kelly and Joe are having a big year. They bought a house. Kelly got a new job. And you may have guessed they’re engaged. Hanging out with them and capturing a piece of this exciting time in their lives was a lot of fun. I love my job, and I can’t wait for their wedding next year.

Lynn and Wayne

Lynn owns a dance studio right around the corner from my office here in Arlington. We didn’t know each other beforehand, but it was fun to shoot a neighbor’s wedding. I had so much fun being around Lynn and Wayne. They were both down to earth, and their families were such a joy to work with. And the dance moves at the reception were incredible. I should have expected that though. Congratulations, Lynn and Wayne!

Nikki - What great photos and that cake looks amazing!!!October 29, 2014 – 6:06 pm

Erica and Marcus

Erica and Marcus got married at the Liberty Hotel. They built in enough time for us to walk around the Esplanade and take a ride on the Red Line taking pictures. The day was beautiful, and it was nice to include the city in the celebration. The spontaneous choreographed dance by the wedding party was pretty awesome, too. Congratulations, Erica and Marcus!

Gerald Sheetoo - You look gorgeous Erica,(as usual). Everyone looks like they are having a great time!October 16, 2014 – 7:21 am

Juliana and Dave

Juliana and Dave got married downtown at The Colonnade. You can tell a lot about people by the company they keep. I knew I would like working again with these two after their engagement session, but I wasn’t prepared for how sweet and completely hilarious Juliana and Dave’s wedding party would be. This day was such a treat. Congratulations, Juliana and Dave!

Nikki - Can’t even pick my favorite photo—congrats!!September 30, 2014 – 8:29 pm

First Summer

This has probably been the best summer of my life. Maybe it just feels that way because we lost most of last summer to nausea and home renovations. Although I think it’s actually because seeing Ellis show the first signs of himself not as a baby but as a little boy has brought so much joy into our home. The days were filled with more chores and less time to relax, but I’m discovering idle time isn’t as valuable as I thought (even if it is still highly coveted).

Ashley O'Dell - He’s standing!? I need to get back over there before he’s in college! Priceless documentation, as always.October 1, 2014 – 5:04 pm
