Natalie and Patrick

Natalie and Patrick got married at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, Rhode Island. The venue is one of my favorites to work at, and Natalie and Patrick quickly became one of my favorite couples to work with. We didn’t get a chance to meet before the wedding, but I learned quickly how easy they were to be around. I’m used to constantly problem-solving on a wedding day, but for some reason everything about this one just came together so easily. Thank you, Natalie and Patrick for being wonderful to work with. Congratulations!mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-02mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-01mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-03mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-04mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-05mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-06mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-07mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-08mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-09mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-10mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-11mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-12mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-13mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-14mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-15mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-16mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-17mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-18mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-19mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-20mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-21mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-22mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-23mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-24mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-25mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-26mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-27mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-28mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-29mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-30mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-31mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-32mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-33mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-34mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-35mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-36mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-37mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-38mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-39mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-40mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-41mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-42mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-43mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-44mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-45mount-hope-farm-bristol-ri-46

Allison and Steve

I had such a great time with Allison and Steve during their engagement session last year. They were both charming and very easy-going. Weddings can be stressful, yet on their wedding day Allison and Steve managed to operate with the same relaxed and warm disposition. They spent as much time unnecessarily helping the people around them as they did requiring the sort of attention only socially acceptable on your wedding day. Basically, I’m just saying I like Allison and Steve, and I really enjoyed being around them and their families. Mass Moca is also one of my favorite wedding venues, so I was even happier to be with them in North Adams to celebrate. Congratulations, Allison and Steve!

Katie and Ryan

Katie and Ryan both went to MIT so we started at the dorms and wandered around from there. I really enjoyed Katie and Ryan’s company and can’t wait for their wedding along the same river next month. The winter has been long and these two reminded me how much I love what I do and how excited I am for a summer of weddings and working with wonderful couples.

From Darkness

I don’t know how far back Ellis’ memory goes, but it’s possible he doesn’t know what grass is. On Mondays I stay home with him, and I’m looking forward to some outdoor adventures instead of figuring out how to entertain a confined toddler for hours. This week we warmed up with a trip to the aquarium and a walk along the harbor. I can’t say with certainty, but it feels like Ellis is pretty excited about fresh air and sunshine. Lord knows I’m tired of cursing the cold and snow. I just want a chance to complain about the heat. Monday fun day!

Jeff Bridges

Almost a year ago I went to Little Rock for No Kid Hungry to document Jeff Bridge’s visit to Arkansas. Jeff visited Stephens Elementary School to thank a staff that is providing breakfast in the classroom for kids whose last meal may have been their school lunch the previous day. Getting a call from NKH is always an honor, and spending the day with Jeff Bridges was a lot of fun.

There was a time when we feared Ellis would have a hard time nursing. Then there were weeks we worried he would never drink from a bottle. Now Brooke and I are concerned he won’t ever give up the bottle. Ellis’ parents worry a lot. Luckily he doesn’t seem to stress about his constant state of transition. He knows quite a bit of child-rearing tends to sort itself out regardless how much you worry. Brooke and I are still learning.

Best of 2014

In 2014 I traveled to Louisiana, Florida and all over New England spending time with families helping to record a part of their history. Here’s a painfully tight edit of great moments and scenes from 2014. I feel like so much is missing from this, but here’s a little taste of why I love my job. Looking at all these is getting me excited for the 2015 wedding season. I’m so grateful for all the wonderful couples and families I work with.

KLC - Your timing is INSANE. Totally and utterly insane. These images rock.February 17, 2015 – 3:44 pm

One Year

A lot changes in a year. In the course of 12 months we’ve transitioned from worrying about keeping Ellis alive to worrying about him eating too many pancakes. Each phase is better than the last (so far). We have a sweet little boy who has a sense of humor and much love to give. His stuffed animals can attest to this. Few things in life exceed expectations, but seeing him see the world has been more fun than I thought possible 52 weeks ago. I’ll tell you that I miss him as a new little baby, but in reality I only miss the idea of it. This memory is better served as context, a starting point, for what Ellis has become and what he will become. We feel so lucky. Also, thanks to Brooke for contributing a picture to this post. You can probably guess which one.

Emanuele - Channing and Brooke and Ellis you are wonderful. We miss chatting with you..well, never met Ellis, but surely he is great as you guys!

Jill and Stu

Jill and Stu got married in Cocoa, Florida, not far from where they live. The ceremony at the Derby Street Chapel and the reception on the Indian River Queen met all my expectations for a charming Old Florida experience. Heading south as winter closes its grasp on New England was a bonus, but regardless of where Jill and Stu got married it would have been a good time. Their friends and families were a lot of fun and a pleasure to hangout with for the weekend. Congratulations, Jill and Stu!

Nilton Baumgratz - God bless this wonderful couple! You deserve all the best!December 15, 2014 – 11:45 am

Kate and Patrick

Kate and Patrick got married at St. Mary of the Assumption and Le Méridien. I discovered they both are hilarious, and I caught myself laughing out-loud multiple times throughout the day. Doing my job became particularly difficult when a pumpkin started flying back and forth over the dance floor. I couldn’t stop laughing, and I was trying to make sure I went home without any pumpkin-related injuries. That was a fun one.
