I can’t think of a better way to end the wedding season than helping Kevin and Ben to document their beautiful wedding day. They treated their guests to a very Boston wedding with their ceremony and reception at the InterContinental Hotel along the waterfront. Gabrielle Stone and her team did a great job of making sure everything ran smoothly. I rarely feel like I’m working at a wedding. But, a couple of times throughout the night I wished I wasn’t photographing this one. I wanted to be a guest : ) Congratulations, Kevin and Ben!

Elizabeth and Patrick

Elizabeth and Patrick live in St. Louis. So, we got together for their engagement session while they were in town for Christmas. Since the city had record snowfall two days prior, we did the whole session at the Boston College Club, the site for their wedding reception in June. I hadn’t had the privilege of meeting Patrick beforehand so it was great to spend time with them both before the wedding. I’m really looking forward to working with them again. And not just because of the beautiful views and remarkable location : )

Sara and John

A plus to being a wedding photographer is that once a week I renew my wedding vows. Brooke doesn’t know that, but I always take to heart the reminders to treat commitment as a daily choice. I’ve seen many beautiful ceremonies and even dropped a tear at one or two (the air was a little dry if I remember), but Sara and John’s wedding is among the ones that resonated the most. Elly, their celebrant, asked John, “Will you ever cause Sara pain?” John answered, “I may.” Elly then asked him “Will you intend to?” And John answered, “No.” Elly asked the same thing of Sara and a handful of other questions that honored the realities and beauty of long-term relationships. After their intimate ceremony in XV Beacon’s wine cellar, all 12 guests went up to Sara and John’s suite for a toast before heading back down for dinner at Moo. Congratulations, Sara and John!

Annie and Davis

You might remember Annie and Davis from their March engagement session. They live in Texas but came back to Annie’s hometown for a beautiful wedding at the Four Seasons in Boston. Annie got ready at her parents house in Newton before heading downtown where Davis was getting ready with the boys. I’ve had a great time getting to know Annie and Davis, and it was wonderful to find out there friends and family were just as charming as they are. Congratulations, guys!

Julia and Mike

When I found out Julia and Mike were fellow journalism school graduates I had a good feeling we would be on the same page. But, what I didn’t count on was how funny and charming they, and all their family and friends, would be. It’s easy to forget what articulate means until you spend a day around people who are experts in the craft of storytelling.

And it was great to be back at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center. I see a lot of hotels and other wedding venues in my line of work, but I rarely see one run so well. It’s always a pleasure to spend time there, on or off the clock. However, take that with a grain of salt. I’m biased.

Colonel Sanders

Erin has always had a fascination with Kentucky Fried Chicken but never actually had the pleasure of enjoying a bucket. So, two weeks before their wedding, Brooke and I invited Erin and Philippe to a picnic on the Greenway to enjoy a little quiet amidst the wedding planning storm. Can’t beat a beautiful evening and some fried bird. Keepin’ it classy with the Johnsons.

Addie and Dave

Addie and Dave’s wedding is soon, but it’s never too late for engagement pictures. We walked quickly through the Public Garden and then headed up Newbury Street. Addie and Dave met while working at a Newbury Comics, so we went into the Newbury Street location to reminisce. They couldn’t help but straighten records and CDs as they walked by. Their wedding is going to be a fun one. I have a good feeling about that.

Scenes From a Staycation

I just enjoyed my first weekend free since June 6th. Brooke and I stayed a night at the Westin Waterfront, went to the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Barking Crab, Flour, IMAX, the Kendall Theater, watched Mad Men, and ate falafel sandwiches. My favorite part was doing nothing by a pool on Sunday. I didn’t bring my camera but still managed to take a picture with my phone. Muscle memory, I suppose.

Meg and Josh

Meg and Josh were married at the Old South Meeting House and then celebrated with friends and family at the Downtown Harvard Club. It was the first time I’ve seen a best-man perform an interpretative dance (there were no words to describe the love for his brother, but Enya helped). And it was the first time I’ve seen the father of a bride bring his dancing shoes. Literally.

This wonderful day was filled with some wonderful people.
