But, what I didn’t count on was how funny and charming they, and all their family and friends, would be. It’s easy to forget what articulate means until you spend a day around people who are experts in the craft of storytelling.

And it was great to be back at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center. I see a lot of hotels and other wedding venues in my line of work, but I rarely see one run so well. It’s always a pleasure to spend time there, on or off the clock. However, take that with a grain of salt. I’m biased.

So, we started at the hearts and ended at The Intercontinental with Sake Margaritas. Can’t wait for their Cape wedding next month. I’ll need to focus more that day; during the engagement session I enjoyed talking with them so much I kept forgetting I was there to take pictures.

Brooke and I were married on Saturday. We were walking from the reception to the hotel bar when I took this picture. I liked her flip flops and her dress and the dirt on her hem from the dance floor and fish pier. Our beautiful venue is in the background, and we’re walking back to the hotel bar with our friends and family. It was a perfect day. And this was a perfect moment. 

We’re leaving for our honeymoon tomorrow morning, but there will be plenty more photos shared here when we return in a week.

(This picture is a little blurry, underexposed and out of focus. This is why I decline drinks at my clients’ weddings.)

]]> http://www.channingjohnsonblog.com/2009/04/married/feed/ 10 Patty and Anthony http://www.channingjohnsonblog.com/2009/04/patty-and-anthony/ http://www.channingjohnsonblog.com/2009/04/patty-and-anthony/#comments Tue, 07 Apr 2009 02:45:28 +0000 Channing http://www.channingjohnsonblog.com/?p=430 If you ask me, the best light of the day is at sunrise.  But, when I told Patty and Anthony that 6:30 a.m. would be a possible time to do their engagement portraits, I didn’t expect them to think that was a good idea.  I’m lucky they did.  Not only were Patty and Anthony absolutely delightful to be around, but it might be a little while before I can find another couple to get up that early with me.  I think it paid off.

Waking up before the sun also means you have a good chance of eating breakfast at The Paramount before the line is out the door.  By the time the rest of Boston was waking up, the three of us were starving and needed some sausage and french toast to help get our second wind.

Patty and Anthony live in Dallas but decided to do their engagement portraits in Boston for something a little different.  Anthony has been working here for the past few months, and they have grown to love the city.  They still love Texas, of course, and were so thoughtful to bring me a gift basket with all their favorite things from back home: Stubb’s BBQ sauce, chili mix, salsa, sweet tea, and even a cowboy hat wall-hanger.

Looks like I’m going to have to get me a cowboy hat : )

We walked  around Southie with the pups before exploring the side streets of the North End. We had no itinerary or direction in mind. Getting a little lost often leads to the best, most surprising photos. However, we did make a b-line to LuLu’s Bake Shoppe before returning to the car. As hard as I might try, I can never seem to leave the North End without one of their butter-cream frosted cupcakes.

Thanks for a wonderful evening, Dawn and Scott. Can’t wait for the wedding!
