Our Wedding Weekend

Here’s a mash up of photographs from our wedding weekend. I took the first three. Yoon Byun’s photos of our first wedding and rehearsal dinner follow (except for the one photo I took of my father explaining a life insurance policy purchased for me when I was a child that needed to be transfered over to me now that I’m a married man. I had been married for only a few hours. Welcome to the Johnson household!) Jason Johns took all the rest from our second wedding and reception at the Exchange Conference Center in South Boston (we got ready at the wonderful Seaport Hotel). Whew! What a weekend.

It really was an amazing time to celebrate with our friends and family. More fun than I had imagined it would be, but it’s nice to be back to life as normal. Or as normal as it ever was. Wedding season is underway here at Channing Johnson Photography, and I’m excited to start documenting weddings again with a whole new appreciation and perspective.

And here are our two wonderful photographers. Yoon Byun and Jason Johns. Thanks so much, guys. You did an amazing job.

Five Years » Channing Johnson Photography - […] Brooke married me five years ago today (photo below taken by our dear friend Yoon). A few things have changed since then. Brooke worked hard to transition to a great new career. We have a mortgage and a place we plan on calling home shy of forever. Oh, and we’ve created human life. We have a beautiful son that embodies our love and will see our connection live on in at least one more generation if not through countless branches. Going from two to three has been the biggest change in the past five years, and Ellis only arrived four months ago. When you stand up in front of your friends and family and make a pledge to someone that will cover the next 60 years, you can only imagine the rest of your life abstractly. Our vows five years ago didn’t cover the self-doubt and frustration you take out on your partner when your inability to soothe a screaming infant frightens you. And I’m guessing there will be events in the next 55 years that are unimaginable to the current me, let alone the 28-year-0ld Channing. But I’m going to pat myself on the back for choosing a damn good partner (and being lucky enough she chose me). We’re different people in more than a few ways, but there’s no one I have more trust for, no one with a stronger instinct to support and nurture, no one with a better set of values, and no one that could be a better mom for Ellis. She also gives the best kisses. But the trust, the values, the ability to nurture (I might require more than Ellis) is a pretty good foundation for someone you’ll never stop getting to know. Brooke is good for me. I hope I’m as good for her. […]April 24, 2014 – 11:56 am

Julia and Mike » Channing Johnson Photography - […] And it was great to be back at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center. I see a lot of hotels and other wedding venues in my line of work, but I rarely see one run so well. It’s always a pleasure to spend time there, on or off the clock. However, take that with a grain of salt. I’m biased. […]November 3, 2009 – 9:50 pm
