“A Good Sandwich is like an old friend”

FLYP Magazine sent me across the river to All Star Sandwich Bar in Cambridge a couple of weeks ago. I’m now a little embarrassed I hadn’t been there before. Buckets-of-beer, daily-made cheesecake, and some of the most thoughtful and impressive sandwiches I’ve ever witnessed (and yes, tasted). I’ll be back soon.

Check out the whole story with an instructional video on how to make your own Muffuletta.

Channing Goes To Providence

I’ve lived in Boston for almost two years, and my only experience with Providence has been on I-95.  My friend and colleague Ashley O’Dell joined me as we changed that with the help of our PVD host Stacey Doyle

I needed a pound of coffee so our first stop was Stacy’s suppliers at Coffee Exchange.  And did you know if you buy a pound of beans you get a free cup right then and there.  I love Providence.

We hit up the RISD Museum and left equal parts inspired and disturbed (I found my BCE doppelganger).  Trinity Brewhouse was our next stop before ending the day at Cuban Revolution where we met up with Kristin and Dave.  Hilarity ensued before we rushed out to catch the last train to Boston, rushing out so fast we could only give a quick ‘hi’ and ‘bye’ to Josh and his fiance Amanda as they arrived.

Looks like we’ll just have to plan another trip down.  Me and Providence are going to be friends for a long time to come.

Josh Behan - Hey Channing,

It was too bad we missed you that night. Amanda and I are going to have an opening in the first week of April for our new studio. Stacey, Kristin, and Dave should be coming down too, maybe you and Ashley can hop on a train too. I could throw a rock to the Westerly train station from the studio.

Great blog by the way too

Babysitting

My nephew stopped by yesterday. His mom had to run some errands, so it was just the boys for the afternoon. And believe you me, when the cat’s away the mice will play. We had a lot of fun, and neither one of us cried at all during the 90 minutes we were responsible for each other.

Unlike last time, the little guy even kept his pants clean.

Channing - Thanks, Lisa! I took a look at your website and really enjoyed your photos as well. Your children pictures are beautiful.February 27, 2009 – 8:16 am

Lisa - I just love this photo. I found you on Modern and have just spent a happy chunk of time perusing your site. Gorgeous photos, and this one, for some reason, really moves me. I know this spot, and the way you’ve managed to bring warmth to it is brilliant. Lovely work!February 27, 2009 – 7:09 am

Party Hopping

Welcome! Many of you are probably coming from Channing’s Blog Party,  A Wedding Journal or both. I’ve retired the two separate blogs since there often isn’t a distinct line between assignments and my daily musings. I was wasting too much energy trying to decide which blog I should place a picture on, so I solved that by having only one blog.

I’m not going to lie to you. Ending the Blog Party is a little sad. Having that outlet for the past 3 years not only motivated me to take pictures, but it changed the way I take pictures. Although the web address is different, I’ll treat the venues the same. You will find plenty of pictures from commissions, but you’ll find an equal amount of personal work . . . not that there’s always a difference.

Thanks for joining me!

Channing - Welcome, Treehugger! I’m glad you made the move. It looks like you’ve been doing some great stuff lately. I love the “We Jump” post, and there’s something fascinating about the lips teeth macro picture : )March 10, 2009 – 5:11 pm
