Remember Kate and Alec’s engagement session? I’ve been looking forward to their Rhode Island wedding ever since. We started Caryn and Patrick’s engagement session in the MIT dorm where they met. We had some connections on the inside so we were able to explore the hallways (and fire escape) that set the scene for their courtship. Harvard Square is where they had their first date and where we finished up. I hadn’t met Caryn and Patrick before they hired me, so I was glad to finally spend some time with them. Can’t wait for the wedding next year!

Anissa and Elliott were married at Elm Bank in Wellesley. The setting they chose was beautiful, but my favorite part was just being around these two thoughtful and interesting people. I was really glad to be a part of this one. Congratulations, Anissa and Elliott!

You’ve seen this beautiful family before here and here. Declan wasn’t even walking when I first spent an afternoon with the family, and now he’s a big brother. Levi is absolutely adorable and seeing the affection Declan has for the newest member of the family is the sweetest. I’m not sure Declan remembered me, but when I walked in the house he earnestly asked me how my summer was. Can’t wait for the next visit!

Caitlin and Courtland’s wedding was one of the grandest weddings I’ve ever shot. You could tell a lot of thought had been put into the details and the overall guest experience. Being a part of this wedding was a lot of fun. Congratulations, Caitlin and Courtland!

As a grown man I try to limit my use of the word cute. Unfortunately, it’s the word that keeps coming to mind when I think of Melissa and Markus. That’s not to say witty and charming don’t also describe them both extremely well. I actually met Markus at improv class. I always tried to line up so he would end up being my scene partner. So, I knew I was going to enjoy hanging out with them as we wandered the neighborhood. And I was right.

Mara and Adam were married at the Commander’s Mansion in Watertown. They kept it simple and elegant. They didn’t get caught up in any of the unnecessary wedding trappings. Although they did go out of their way to make sure people ate well. And I mean really well. A Season to Taste prepared one of the best meals I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at a wedding, or maybe anywhere. Connecting with friends and family over a table is really important to Mara and Adam and they made that happen beautifully at their wedding. I’m so glad I was a part of this one (and not just because of the food).

Sometimes photographers and their families are less documented than their clients. Although Anelise is a talented photographer who actually does a great job of documenting her own family, there is one thing that is often absent from the pictures: Anelise. So it was particularly rewarding not only to get some pictures of her and Mike’s adorable girls, but to also get some pictures that show how great they all are as a family.

Katie and Travis live in one of my favorite sea-side towns. We started at their house and then explored the spaces where Portsmouth meets the Piscataqua River. I shot Travis’ sister’s wedding 4 years ago, but it was great getting to know these two better in their environment. They both used to be on the track team, so we found ourselves a spot to finally decide who would win in a foot race.

I’ve been doing this long enough that I’m watching babies grow up into students. When I first met Anna she was small. The next time she was a little bigger. And now she’s someone’s classmate and walking to school. She’s doesn’t walk alone, but she’s confident enough to lead the way. Anna has some pretty awesome parents, and I’m always excited when they ask me to come back. Brenna, Anna’s mom, is an extremely talented and hilarious writer (and photographer!). I’ve been reading her blog for moms for years as a childless man. I’m looking forward to going back and reading her thoughts from the beginning when our baby arrives.
