You’ll remember Martiza and Matt from their engagement session earlier this summer. As I mentioned before, after seeing Martiza at several other friends’ weddings it was such a pleasure to finally photograph her and Matt’s. The Inn at Mountain View Farm in Burke, Vermont was the perfect spot. The clouds threatened to rain a few times but it stayed dry for the mountain top ceremony. I’m so glad I was invited to make the journey for this wonderful couple. Congratulations, guys!
Connie and Ben are two of the best photographers I know. For that reason, I’m a little nervous to shoot their Louisiana wedding next year. Luckily they are dear friends and willing for me to start an engagement session in their bed. The fact they are so open and comfortable with themselves and each other means these pictures have so much significance regardless of the decisions I made. I just pointed the camera in their general direction.

Mary and Scott got married at the Willowdale Estate. The quintessential New England location was a great backdrop for this international wedding. With a good number of guest from Bermuda (where Scott is from) and even a few from France, the whole wedding had a unique vibe. That energy also had a lot to do with Mary and Scott. They were playful, all while being extremely sincere and present. I really enjoyed being around them and their loved ones. Congratulations, Mary and Scott. I’m so glad I was there.

I’ve talked to some wedding photographers who find it stressful to attend weddings as guests. It feels like they’re in the office. I love it, however. When I’m working I don’t eat hors devours or drink anything other than water. So I feel like a kid in a candy store when I’m unleashed on cocktail hour in a setting I usually associate with having responsibilities. I was recently a guest at our dear friends Chelsea and Yoon‘s wedding. They are such wonderful people and very important to Brooke and I. This made my role of guest that much more enjoyable. I went camera-less for most of the day. Although I couldn’t help snap a few when hanging out with Yoon while he got ready. And neither could the other 4 photographer/friends in the room.
Llaen and Andy’s Mass Moca wedding was a visual feast. Not only was North Adams and the arresting art inside Mass Moca a treat to photograph, but the connections between Llaen and Andy and their loved ones was outward and abundant for documenting. I truly enjoyed working with these two and can’t thank them enough for pushing me westward to experience this museum and town. I’ve already decided this will be one of the first family trips we take when my yet-born son can see across a room. Start them early, I say. Congratulations, Llaen and Andy!
I want to live like Rebecca and Björn. Their home is full of beautiful art and lots of wine. They were even sweet enough to send me home with a bottle after our engagement shoot. Getting to know them better was such a pleasure, and I can’t wait for their wedding next year. Here’s a little taste of this great pair.

I never would have posted a picture like this if I hadn’t planned on eventually taking and posting a picture like the one below. My wife isn’t vomiting anymore. She’s glowing. And she’s nesting. Now that we’ve chosen nursery paint colors we just need to put some furniture in there . . . and accomplish dozens of other things. Baby steps.

I’ve been looking forward to Michelle and JR’s wedding for awhile now. Wandering around Gloucester for their engagement session was a great way to get to know them, and returning for their wedding with all their friends and family was a lot of fun. Michelle made so many thoughtful decisions to treat their loved ones. She even invited a mystery guest to surprise all the Bruin fans. Congratulations, Michelle and JR!
We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. After three months without a kitchen we finally have a sink with running water. No stove or (permanent) refrigerator yet, but paint is going on the walls. I took this picture two months ago when I was grilling at the beginning of the week so we would have prepared lunches and dinners. We’ve used up all of our self control not to eat out, and now that’s all we’re doing. We’re about to spend our renovation budget on Thai take-out.

Last month we made the annual trip to Emerald Isle, NC. I think this was the 31st summer my family and two others have spent the week together on the same stretch of sand. A few years ago one of Brooke’s best friends coincidentally moved to the area. So, we now spend more than a week down in paradise. Taking out Mike and Nicole’s boat to the sand bars during the day and out to watch the fireworks at night was one of my favorite parts.
