The Bachelor

Would you believe some of the best relationship advice I’ve ever received came from The Bachelor? Do you remember when Tenley was talking about her failed marriage? She was exploring what went wrong and remembered how they wouldn’t get up from the computer or step away from the tv when the other came home. She wondered if they hadn’t taken each other’s presence for granted that maybe things would have been different. Regardless of what was the cause and what was the symptom of larger problems that idea stuck with me. I still would like to be better at it, but when Brooke leaves or when she comes home I try to be at the door greeting her or sending her off. Brooke doesn’t have the opportunity to return the gesture nearly as often, but I sure had a big smile on my face when I came home from my wedding last weekend and saw her standing in the doorway. It’s the little things, no? Thanks, ABC!

kelly - I love this. Thanks for the reminder.August 16, 2012 – 1:14 pm

Joyelle - So sweet! And cute dress, Brooke. :)August 15, 2012 – 2:46 pm

Zac Wolf - As a non-married man, but one who has lived with significant others in the past, I have to say this is very very true. And it’s always nice to have a reminder of such truths.

Thanks!August 15, 2012 – 1:52 pm

Ned Jackson - It takes a real man to share a) his love of the bachelor & bachelorette franchise, b) that his best marital advice came from said franchise. I look forward to seeing your new tattoo of a shield, rose & pulsing heart – after all, you do ‘guard and protect’ Brooke’s heart don’t you?August 15, 2012 – 10:51 am

Erin and Ben

You’ll remember Erin and Ben from their North End engagement shoot. I hung out with them this time at their beautiful wedding at the Wayside Inn. Getting to know their friends and family was as much fun as wandering around with Erin and Ben last fall. The two put a lot of thought into the details of their wedding, and it was exciting to see everything come together so well. The wonderful Rachel and Eliza of WedBoston deserve some of that credit. Congratulations, Erin and Ben! I was honored to be there.

Jennifer @esqevents - Love the church photo!August 28, 2012 – 8:29 am

Ashley and Alden

You’ll recognize some of the spots in Ashley and Alden’s engagement session in their wedding pictures. For the wedding they put a tent in the open field and celebrated there with the people closest to them. They incorporated the beautiful farm setting with the comforts of delicious food, good drinks and an on-site cigar roller. I’ve had so much fun getting to know Ashley and Alden this past year. I hope these pictures capture a fraction of all the love and celebration present that day. Also, a big thanks to the absurdly talented Chris Cappozziello for working with me. He’s responsible for the shots of Alden before the ceremony, the awesome picture of Ashley and Alden walking down the aisle, the table detail and the beautiful picture of Ashley’s mom listening to her and Alden’s toast. I’m hoping people might confuse his pictures for mine : )

Nikki - The flower pic came out great!!!August 11, 2012 – 10:55 am

Chris Capozziello - Congrats to Ashely and Alden; it was so great getting to meet you both lats month, and Channing it was really wonderful to photograph alongside you. Your photographs really are visceral. You’re a true storyteller, and any couple would be lucky to have you collect memories of their special day.August 7, 2012 – 10:43 am

Denise Farwell - Hi Channing! Beautiful post. I agree that Chris’s images are wonderful, but you should never hope anyone confuses your work for someone else’s! You are one of a kind and I love the work you’re doing. Hope to see you again someday soonish!August 6, 2012 – 10:43 am

Babies

This spring and early summer I was lucky enough to hangout with a handful of families. One session marked the end of a first home, and they all marked a special time in these families lives. The last picture is of  Erika and Eddie who married in Novemeber. They are pregnant and anticipating the wonderful moments these other families are already been blessed with.

Jacob - More baby posts, please. At least once a week. Ty.August 5, 2012 – 9:31 am

Miranda and Joshua

Miranda and Joshua live in New York City but invited their friends and families to celebrate with them in the Mohonk Preserve in New Paltz, NY. The views were a beautiful backdrop to what was otherwise a big backyard party of games and good company. I didn’t get a chance to meet Miranda and Joshua until the day of the wedding, but I quickly realized how lucky I was to be there with them and the people most important in their lives. What a wonderful celebration. Congratulations, Miranda and Joshua!

Nikki - Wow what a beautiful wedding dress, I am yet to see one like that, and your lens really did catch all the details of the dress. bravo!!August 3, 2012 – 7:48 am

Holiday Inn Express

I had a shoot in Connecticut for Share Our Strength again this week. I worked with some wonderful people and got to explore that state below Massachusetts that I usually end up driving through instead of to. Shame on me. The shoots had us exploring the state, and I look forward to returning in the near future to give it the full attention it deserves. Old Saybrook, anyone?

Keith King - I really like this picture Channing.July 20, 2012 – 2:10 pm

Mimi and Max

Mimi and Max were married at Houghton Memorial Chapel on the Wellesley College campus before heading to the Henderson House for their reception. I’ve enjoyed Mimi and Max’s great wit and pleasant demeanor while getting to know them both this past year. I’m extremely happy for the two and wish them all the best. Congratulations, Mimi and Max!

Vacay

For 30 years my family and two others have visited Emerald Isle, NC for a week in the summer. That means I was two when the tradition started. Having moved to different states four times before I graduated high school (and three since), Emerlad Isle might be the piece of earth I associate most with familiarity and family. The way most people think of home. In recent years the rental houses have gotten bigger to accommodate new spouses (below) and now a third generation. It’s the week I look forward to most in the calendar. My career keeps me from staying the full seven days anymore, but it doesn’t really matter. Leaving at any point is always the saddest day of the year.

Caitlin and Pete

I traveled to Caitlin and Pete’s backyard for their engagement session in the fall. For their wedding at the Peabody Essex Museum, they were just up Route 1 from my backyard. They got ready at the Salem Waterfront Hotel before walking over to the museum. All of Caitlin and Pete’s friends and family were so welcoming, and I had a great time being around their fun crowd. Congratulations, Caitlin and Pete!

Tim and Greg

You’ll remember Tim and Greg from their engagement session last year. I’ve been looking forward to their wedding ever since that afternoon, and my expectations weren’t disappointed. We hit up the same spots we did in November, except this time we were all dressed up, and Tim and Greg’s favorite people were there to celebrate with them. The ceremony was at Christ Church and then everyone made the quick walk to Upstairs on the Square for a beautiful reception. It’s been such a pleasure getting to know Tim and Greg. And Scooter! Congratulations, guys.

Whitney - Simply, wow… what a wonderful keepsake all of these photos will be for Tim and Greg down the road. I feel like I was there and able to experience all parts of the day. OUTSTANDING as usual!July 18, 2012 – 4:40 pm

Mike E - So many exquisite shots, it’s hard to know where to begin…but the flag, the concrete bench with the drinks, the solo dance with the reactions. Dang, you’re good.June 28, 2012 – 9:36 am

Christina - Wow Channing, these are awesome! I love the zebras.June 27, 2012 – 8:23 pm
