Sammy

I had a wonderful time hanging out with Sammy, Emily and Derek (and Baxter!). We had fun exploring the neighborhood and hanging out around the house. Sam reminded me a lot of my nephew, and we hit it off pretty well from the beginning. I’m not the best at child-wrangling, but I love simply keeping up and trying to capture kids’ unique personalities. Sammy is really sweet and even gave me a sticker when I left. Thanks, buddy!

One Year Anniversary

Brooke married me one year ago today. That’s not us in the picture above. That’s actually a picture of my sister and brother-in-law. It was taken in September of 2005, a year before they were even married. The picture is from the weekend that Brooke and I were supposed to meet.

My sister thought we would be good together, and so we schemed a roof-deck party where I would fly out from Michigan and meet the woman of my dreams. It didn’t work out that way. Had we actually met, I wonder if it would have worked. Timing is everything, right? A three-month e-mail flirtation suited us really well. And now look at us. We’re counting our marriage by the year.

Brooke and I are celebrating in Florida right now. I’m writing this on Friday to automatically publish on our wedding anniversary. I’d like to say that’s because we’re not taking a computer with us. But that’s not true. We have a lot of Friday Night Lights to catch up on before the season starts in two weeks. And I think that (with a little sunshine and sea) sounds like a perfect way to relax and honor our commitment to one another.

You can see snapshots of our first married year here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Channing - Thanks, everyone! And, yes, Megan, FNL is a Myndi and Charlie influence. What a great show. Are Mr. and Mrs. Taylor the best married couple in TV history? I’m constantly inspired by those two.April 29, 2010 – 5:45 pm

Meg - Congrats! And as a fellow HUGE fan of Friday Night Lights (is this a Myndi influence for both of us?), I hope you find Coach Taylor + Tammy’s marriage as inspiring as we do.April 26, 2010 – 11:23 pm

Patty - Congrats and Happy Anniversary!April 26, 2010 – 2:13 pm

Jessica Maria - Congratulations!

Timing certainly is everything – Jesse and I learned that as well.

(Also, get ready for an amazing Season 4 of FNL. It’s. Amazing.)April 26, 2010 – 1:58 pm

Josh Behan - congratulations Brooke and Channing, great story.April 25, 2010 – 11:24 pm

Katy and Tommy

Home is such an important place for me, and that’s true for a lot of us. That’s why I love being able to start engagement shoots in a couple’s home. When you’re always looking to make meaningful photos, it helps to take them in a meaningful place. Katy and Tommy invited me into their home and we were able to capture a little of what a normal day is for them (and their two cats and dog). Afterwards, we wandered the city, and I had to keep reminding myself to take pictures as we walked along chatting. It’s a treat to spend time with a couple whose connection has such a strong outward expression.

Illinois

Can’t beat reuniting with old friends. Especially when those old friends are Myndi and Charlie. And even more so when Myndi and Charlie are living in Chicago. Thank you, guys. We needed that.

Courtney and Chris

Courtney and Chris were married on a beautiful Spring day in Wakefield. I had been looking forward to this wedding since I got to know the two while exploring their old neighborhood in the Fall. It was great to find out their friends and family are as fun to be around as they are. Congratulations, Courtney and Chris!
