Brooke and I got back last night from Ashley and Eric’s epic Italian wedding. I have a lot of pictures to share and will post a few scene-setters periodically over the next week as I finish working on the wedding images. The one below is from the medieval town of Montepulciano where we found yet another amazing pizza slice. We’re already planning our return trip to Italy. We’ll just need to wait until we shed the kilos we brought back with us. We were one meal away from actually turning into meatballs.

THANK YOU, Channing! The photos look AMAZING!!!!! :-)Congratulations to Lauren and Daniel for winning the Best of 2010 contest! I’ve always enjoyed this striking picture of Lauren and her father walking down the aisle, and I guess I’m not the only one. For edging out the tough competition, Lauren and Daniel will get a $200 gift certificate to Hungry Mother in Cambridge. It’s one of my favorite places to spend an evening, and I hope they will enjoy it, too.
Thank you to everyone who participated. And thank you most importantly to all of the great couples I got to know last year. I’m very lucky to do what I do. Taking pictures is fun, but the best part of this job are the friends I’ve made in the process.
The 2011 season starts next week with a bang. Check back in a few weeks to see where the wedding took place. Here’s a hint. It rhymes with . . . Italy!
I love this photo. The way her face is shadowed, but you can still see her smile gives me as a viewer a sense of intimacy – like I’m in on a secret. And it’s that moment…just before she steps into the light and down the isle to her future husband who’s anxiously awaiting to see her.
The lines and light make this a winner.
Bravo!March 30, 2011 – 8:46 pm
CJP’s 2011 season gets underway next month, so I figured now is a good time to glance back at 2010. Picking a favorite image from a wedding is kind of a silly task. If I were to go through all the 2010 weddings next week I’d have a completely different set of pictures. The biggest benefit of doing a “best of” is to reward a lucky couple with a night out. This year’s prize is a $200 gift certificate to Hungry Mother in Cambridge. Any out-of-state winner can opt for an AmEx gift card if they promise to squander it on something indulgent and unnecessary.

What a difficult decision…they are all so beautiful. We are so excited to be part of CJP’s 2011 season!!! Can’t wait!It was two years ago that I did Brea and Nathan’s engagement pictures. A lot can change in that time. In fact, Brea and Nathan will soon be parents. I stopped by a couple of weeks ago to take some pictures of them in their new home before things change a little bit around there. Looking forward to hearing the good news and going back to spend some time with them when they’re officially a family.
I feel bad for those people who live in Miami and San Diego. Sure, they don’t spend months of their year locked in ice and darkness, but they also don’t get to experience the ecstasy of spring. It’s one of the few things in life that you can anticipate for months and still have your expectations exceeded. Spring doesn’t last long, and soon I’ll be complaining about the heat, but as I watch the snow melt, the world is starting to feel new and full of possibility. It’s hard to experience such a profound sense of rebirth when every day is 80 degrees and sunny. Those poor souls.
I met Myndi and Charlie in college. I knew them each before they knew each other. But I think it’s neat that we haven’t just continued to be friends but have become different and better friends than we ever were before (thanks to Brooke for making that complete). Although we’ve had the pleasure of seeing Myndi and Charlie relatively frequently (here, here, and even here) for living one thousand miles away, it’s hard to believe it had been 3 years since we had quality time with them in Boston. They also made the trip for our wedding but that’s not quite the same as slowing everything down over long meals, board games, drinks, and winter beach walks.

Such a great weekend. I’m so glad we’ve kept up on our visits.I photographed a tap class in Bedford for the Wall Street Journal’s What’s Your Workout section a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice little reminder that if I want to exercise consistently I should probably find something fun to do. The dancers in the class were working up a sweat and having a good time doing it. As long as I don’t have to wear anything sparkle-y I would definitely give it a try.

tap. is here. to stay.I thought it was last year that the Boston photographers met up with the Rhode Island photographers in Providence. Turns out it was two years ago. Shameful. Ashley, Li, Lisa, Zev and I took the train down a couple of weeks ago to meet up with Stacey, Josh, Kevin and Jamie. We hit up the RISD Museum before settling in for some drinks at Harry’s. I don’t remember the name of the next place (the details are a little fuzzy), but we were in between train departures and figured we had time for one more drink before the last train to Boston. In the end we didn’t give ourselves as much time as we wanted. We ran through the icy streets (we almost didn’t make it back as a unit) and collapsed on the train with a few minutes to spare. I hope it’s not another two years before we do that again.
